Benefits of Green Tea Body Lotion

A Green Tea Body Lotion can do more than just boost its antioxidant defense!

Find out for yourself:

1. Neutralizes free radicals and slows down the signs of aging

EGCG, a powerful antioxidant and key polyphenol in green tea, acts as a complex defense mechanism against free radicals.12

Free radicals are molecules that are already present in our bodies and skin, but external factors such as UV exposure, smoke, haze, and many other types of pollution turn them into something harmful. Pollution and UV exposure trigger an unhealthy increase in our body’s production of free radical molecules. When their numbers become high, they affect our body, causing degradation of cells and rapid signs of aging.3

2. Soothes redness and controls oils

The caffeine in the formula’s green tea can act as an effective sebum/oil regulator for oily or acne-prone skin. Those with oily skin tend to have larger pores, and by temporarily tightening them, caffeine can reduce the amount of sebum secreted on the surface of the skin.4

The caffeine content in this formula acts as a topical vasoconstrictor to help reduce redness and swelling. It’s especially helpful for sensitive skin types, or those dealing with rosacea. Topical vasoconstrictors help to soothe redness by tightening blood vessels that cause redness and swelling, therefore reducing the rush of blood to the surface of the skin (a common culprit of red, blotchy skin).5

3. Acts as an intensive hydrator for dry or unbalanced skin

Green tea is rich in vitamin B2 and vitamin E, both of which are essential for the skin health. Vitamin B2 plays an important role in maintaining collagen levels for youthful skin structure and firmness. Vitamin E supports new skin cell growth and also acts as an intensive hydrator for dry or unbalanced skin.

4. Regenerate skin cells and tone skin

Lavender essential oil has antibacterial and antiviral properties that make it perfect for any skin type. In addition, lavender oil helps to regenerate skin cells and tone the skin, especially mature skin.

5. Help keep eczema at bay

Eczema can appear anywhere on the body, with eczema, the skin becomes dry, itchy, and scaly. It may be mild or chronic and appear in many places. Since it has antifungal properties and reduces inflammation, it can help keep eczema at bay.

6. Reduce discoloration, dark spots, blemishes, and redness

Lavender essential oil can help even out skin tone as it reduces inflammation. It can reduce discoloration, including dark spots, and helps in reducing blemishes and redness. If you have hyperpigmentation on your skin, this essential oil can help with that too.

7. Fine lines and wrinkles on skin

Free radicals are partly responsible for fine lines and wrinkles on the face, due to the Lavender Essential Oil is rich in antioxidants, which help protect you from free radicals.

Variations

This recipe can be customized to suit your preferences and needs. You can substitute different types of tea for the green tea, such as black tea or white tea, to create different scents and properties.

You can also use different carrier oils instead of almond oil, such as jojoba oil or avocado oil, which can provide different benefits for the skin.

In addition, you can experiment with different essential oils to create your own signature scent. For example, you might try adding a few drops of peppermint oil for a refreshing and cooling sensation, or ylang-ylang oil for a sweet and floral aroma.

A clean glass jar or plastic container with a tight-fitting lid is a good option. You can also use a decorative tin or container to give your body butter as a gift.
